Wee Willie Winkie

"Wee Willie Winkie"

Due out in the near future. Possibly on DVD along with another episode.

This story was inspired by the fact that "Wee Willie Winkie" always ran around in his nightgown, rapping on the windows, calling through the locks. Our heroine, Petrina calls on Fairy Godnana to transport her back through time to find out why he does this. What she discovers is a real surprise when Willie's 'Dad' turns out to be the Sandman, sprinkling 'sand' in the sleepy children's eyes to make them have sweet dreams. Willie helps his father by warning the children that it's time to go to bed - the Sandman is coming. That would explain his nightgown as he is about to do the same. While Petrina is there Willie has an accident, preventing him from doing his job. Petrina comes up with a very clever solution before returning to the future.

"Wee Willie Winkie Visits the Future"

Due out 2004 Possibly on DVD

This story has Willie visiting Petrina in the Present time. He becomes intrigued with electricity, driving everyone nuts with his constant switching lights on and off. He flies kites with other children after hearing how Benjamin Franklin attracted Natures 'electricity'; rides in his first car; is terrified by 'monster birds' - planes passing overhead - until he visits his first airport and watches people safely going in and out of the 'monsters'; tastes his first pizza and meets his first ethnic person. A surprise twist in the story before he leaves for home makes the viewer pause and go 'hmmmm!'

"Soldier,Soldier, Won't You Marry Me?" from an old English song.

Due out 2004-5 Possibly on DVD

Petrina has learnt this song and wants to join the soldier in the picture on her wall. She asks Fairy Godnana if she can transform her into an adult for one day. She finds the soldier rather cute. She is baking treacle pies when there is a rap on her log cabin door. She opens it to find the soldier standing there in a red uniform and carrying his musket, fife and drum. He has lost his regiment in the fog. Petrina offers him a warm fire while he sings about his plight. When she sings "Soldier Soldier won't you marry me?" he turns her down because he doesn't have a coat of his own. "So up she goes to her Grandfather's Chest and brings him a coat of the very very best - and the soldier puts it on." Each time she asks him to marry her he has another excuse - no shoes, no hat, no gloves. She gets a little angrier each time she runs up and down the stairs to fetch the article. She asks one last time "Won't you marry me" only to be told that "Oh no sweet maid I cannot marry you for I have a wife of my own." No longer enamored by him she delivers a satisfying and sweet revenge on the luckless soldier before being wafted back to the future by Fairy Godnana. She is very happy to return to being a little girl again.

"The North Wind's Gifts"

Due out 2004. Possibly on DVD.

Inspired by a Norwegian Fairy Tale, Fairy Godnana once again assists Petrina into the past and another amazing adventure. She meets up with Hans, a boy about her age who has the pressure of being the 'man' of the family and looking after his mother after his father has died. Times are hard and they are down to their last bowl of flour when the North Wind gusts it all away. Hans resolutely squares his shoulders and tells his mother that he will go visit that North Wind and give him a piece of his mind. Petrina, who arrives on the scene when the flour blows away, begs him to take her with him. He is secretly glad to have company on the long trip and they set off for the North Pole. The North Wind appears very frightening at first, being very large with a booming voice. But they soon find out his bark is worse than his bite and he is only too happy to help them. He gives Hans a magic cloth and tells him the magic words when they want food to appear. On the way back the children are by now exhausted and thankfully find an inn with a warm fire to sleep by. But first they decide to try out the magic cloth. A splendid feast appears before them and they satisfy their hunger and then wish away the remains. But not before the greedy, snooping Innkeeper resolves to exchange their cloth while they sleep. When they get home the 'magic' cloth does not work - Hans' mother shakes her head in disbelief. Hans and Petrina set off again to berate the North Wind for his 'trickery'. Again they are given another magic gift - this time a goat that coughs up gold coins. The evil Innkeeper outwits the children and once again the 'magic' does not work. But Petrina discovers something about the goat that suggests foul play. Back they go to the North Wind who is becoming a little impatient with their carelessness. Petrina tells of her discovery and so one last gift is bestowed on them. This one back-fires on the greedy Innkeeper who begs them to forgive him and returns the other stolen 'gifts'. They return triumphantly, the mother finally believes their stories and she and Hans live happily ever after. They enjoy helping their less fortunate neighbors. Petrina returns to the future.
